Project Especial Pt. 3: Partial Unveiling

A week or two ago, I posted concerning Project Especial, a special project I was working on for my husband. Well, tonight, I can finally reveal the project itself, though I cannot show photos as of yet since it is not finished :(.

Couple of weeks back, my husband bought me a book I'd been BEGGING for called the Tattoo Sourcebook written by the Editors at TattooFinder.com. For those who do not already know, I LOVE tattoos. I view them as beautiful artwork extensions of oneself. One of my absolute favorite TV shows is LA Ink. The star of LA Ink is Kat von D and happens to be my favorite artist that I've ever seen on TV or in person. She does amazing work, especially with photos people would like tattooed.
(If anyone is further interested in Kat von D's work, check out High Voltage Tattoo's website.)

Long story short, I had been wanting the book Drew bought me for quite some time, ever since I saw it, really. It has tons of tattoo ideas, and so far, has been a great help as far as inspiration goes, though I would never copy anyone else's artwork. It's been a really good way to learn how to draw my own things by having a more professional piece to use as a guide.

Upon receiving the book, I asked Drew if he would like for us to draw potential tattoos for one another. Neither of us like the idea of having anything that does not in some way mean something important. So it was a fun challenge of sorts into how well we knew each other. Hence, my project...

Drew has already pretty much finished mine. It is a yin yang of sorts. A cross with wings. One wing, that of a bat/vampire. The other, an angel. At the top of the cross, there is a set of a half-halo and a devil-horn. It truly fits.

The one I am working on for Drew is a Japanese dragon holding 4 poker cards, all aces. I hope that he likes it. Hopefully he will like it a lot :).

To date, I have two tattoos, and Drew has four.
