Painted Words: Episode 6 - Shine

This week, I'm doing a very special dare for a very special friend.  A close friend of mine, Stacy Fath writes poetry, and recently asked that I review some of her writing.  You may find her poems at her blog, Poet With a Dream.

Shine
-------------------------------
"We all have a reason
We all have a purpose

For being in the place we are
We may not understand
But
We need to try to find it
We have to push forward
To be all we can be
We have to do our best
Because that's all
That can be asked
The best way to do this
Is just live
Live every day
To get the full potential
To find understanding
Be all you can be
Do all you can do
Shine like the brightest stars
To find your purpose"

I must say that, while all of Stacy's work is excellent, this is one of my favorites.  This is because of the "real" nature of the words here.  My friend has taken some very simplistic truths easily forgotten, and brought them to light here.

So many people -- and none of us can truly understand what goes on with another.  Look at us.  We have difficulty bridging even the smallest of generational gaps.  We may understand others a little, but we are often too stuck in our own bubbles to truly pay attention.  Selfishness is at the root of our desires and our evils.  Laziness and self-pity have created the growing so-called need for personal trainers and counselors.  We've become too complacent within our complexities.  We, the people of the United States have forgotten our purpose, and we marvel at the number of unemployed students.  We stand aghast that they have yet to "do something with their lives" when the truth be known, we have yet to show them the endless possibilities, or how to find their purpose.  These are the words and thoughts inspired by my friend -- my sister.

What is truly amazing to me is that Stacy's poetry as a whole is literally a map of her spiritual, moral, and mental growth.  Here is the proof that there is a woman out there who is learning the simplicities and eccentricities of life.  She struggles, but she survives.  Just as you will.

Thank you, Stacy for your writing.  Don't ever stop.  Share yourself with the world, and don't let them ever tear this down. Keep daring.
