- Go to DaFont.com or do a search for "free fonts".
- On DaFont, type something into the search bar provided. For instance, perhaps you are creating a St. Patrick's day theme for your blog, you would type in Irish or Celtic... etc. Once you've pressed enter to begin your search, scroll down to see the fonts.
- Once you have found the font you like, click the Download button. (Beware that you may have popups blocked. If this is the case, you will need to click a yellow bar just above the page to permit the download.)
- Click Save and save it to your desktop for now.
- Once it has finished saving, you will see a yellow folder on your desktop with a "zipper" on it. This is a .zip file folder and basically means the contents are compressed. Right click to bring up a drop-down menu.
- In the menu, click Extract All. A window will come up asking where you would like it to be extracted to, leave it as your desktop again (should be selected already).
- The next window to come up should have at least one file in it that has a symbol next to it. This symbol should look like a piece of paper with a letter over it (either an A or a T). Double-click it.
- Yet another window should come up. Click Install.
- Once this has finished installing, open Microsoft Word. Find the font to be certain it installed.
- Finally (this will help keep your computer space clean) go back to your desktop and delete the .zip folder as well as the folder that was extracted from it. (Folder extracted from .zip file should look like a normal folder and should have the file that you used to install the font with.)
