No, no... It's been a pretty good couple of weeks or so, though I was very sad that I couldn't get online to post a new blog :(. Now I have a great deal of catching up to do...once again. Ugh. I've got my computer to clean out some (too many pictures, videos, etc. taking up more space than they should, so I'm moving them to my online files). That being said, I'd like to remind everyone (who is interested) once again that they can find my stuff at my YouTube Channel or my Photo Journal. You can also view my photos at my Facebook, as well.
So... UPDATES!! Yippie...ok, so maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration. But anywho... A few weeks ago, I helped out a friend with Demon Cat. Demon Cat decided to go feral after a few months minus his usual handler/owner. My friend was his caretaker. Then he went nuts. I got bitten and scratched, but my friend's husband got the worst of it. It's quite the long story, and we won't go there. All I have to say is that my husband is an amazing cat boxer. He got in there with his boxing gloves and man-handled that cat all the way to the carrier he went to Animal Control in. Way to go, babe!! So, on the up-side of things there, I now know that my husband will gallantly protect me from annoyingly curious birds and demonically vicious cats. Anybody got a pissed off pitty I can test him against? Nobody answer that. To make a long story short, I received a notice from Animal Control a couple days ago stating that the cat was not rabid. Sadly, due to the owner's absence at the time, and the cat's general attitude toward his temporary caretakers and myself, he had to be put down. It's really too bad as he was a gorgeous cat, and I'm sure much loved by his owner. She was rather unhappy about the outcome and to learn of her cat's being put down when she was so close to returning home, and I wish her well in locating another pet friend if she so chooses.
In other news updates, I will hopefully begin training to become a dog trainer soon. I have a good lead on a possible train-on-the-job position at a local pet store who has asked that I return later on in August. Needless to say, I will be visiting whenever possible just to speak to that person and find out more about the position and the training involved. I'm getting majorly excited about this.
Today, I do have some goodbyes and new introductions for everyone who reads this to witness:
Goodbye -- As many of my friends well know, in the early part of this year (I believe it was January), I bought a snake named Thor for my husband, who had long wanted to own one. Due to my fear of snakes at the time, the agreement was that Drew would be gentle with introducing me to the snake and allowing me time to become accustomed to him so I could handle his care with confidence during Drew's deployments. Well, now, several months later, my cat Haru is being...well... a dumbass. Haru has decided that it is fun to climb on top of Thor's cage and sit there staring down at poor Thor. Thor knows he is there, knows Haru is bigger than himself, and is genuinely freaked out. This has made it difficult for us to care for Thor as he has grown nervous about being handled after the cat has been up there at any point in the day. We are sad to see him go, but we are going to have to sell him to someone who will be able to take a bit better care of him emotionally...someone who has better behaved cats or without cats. So... this is most likely goodbye forever to him, and we wish him well on the serepentry of life.
Introduction -- Drew and I had to stop over at Petco night before last. We can usually walk right past the adoptable pets, even stopping to pet them or say hello on our way in, without a second thought. Not Friday night. We needed to speak to one of the ASPCA volunteers there, and she happened to be rather chatty, so we stuck around for a few asking further questions about some of the cats she had in the playpen with her. One of them was a beautiful male Calico Tabby...black and white, with odd markings. Apparently I've had a streak of blatancy the past few weeks (out of the blue). We walked away to find our purchases, and without thinking, I turned to Drew and said, "Can we please get Twitter?!" (Twitter was the Calico Tabby's name.) After several minutes of discussing it and thinking about it while picking out what we were there to get in the first place, we decided that this was one of those rare moments when we had both made an immediate and automatic connection with an animal for no apparent reason. I don't know all the reasons behind it, but I really feel like somehow, getting Twitter was a "God" thing for us... Yes, he will cost a little extra money, but not many dollars more. We're overjoyed to have him join our little family...although Haru and Ryo have had a few things to hiss about it. So far, Haru has begun playing with him a little, and Ryo has decided he's ok to sniff every so often. So long as she hisses at him right after the sniff to insure he doesn't think this makes them best buds.
Last (but most certainly not least), Drew managed to score free tickets to a Tim McGraw concert last Sunday night. We were able to snap a few pictures of us there on the lawn at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater. If anyone who reads this was there, by all means comment and let me know. Would love to see your photos or videos from it if you'd like to share. So, I think that pretty much gets me caught up on blogging for the moment. I hope everyone will stop by my Youtube channel and my Photo Journal to see what all's been going on.
